Group Dynamic Primer Chapter Six: Stretching and Growing

Leaders are committed to constant self-improvement. Why use the phrase “stretching and growing?”

Because you can’t grow if you don’t stretch –

And it is possible to stretch without growing.

One of two things is always true:

1-I am a perfect master of all my desired skills and capabilities; I’m perfect.
or
2-I still have room to grow.

If number 1 is the case – WOW! Please write a book about that. (The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin comes close, I suppose.)

If you fall in category number 2, then what are you going to do about it? What are you going to do differently tomorrow than today? What specific personal growth efforts do you consistently undertake? Who do you stay accountable to?

The best leaders have ready answers to those questions.

“You can’t think yourself into a new way of acting; you must act yourself into a new way of thinking.”  — Clifford Madsen

Rate yourself – and/or ask others to rate you – on this:

When I am corrected, or learn new ways of doing things, I adjust what I do accordingly.

[next week – positivity]
